- The microphone is yours. It opens only while you hold the button, and lets go the moment you do.

Every report is read by a person. Every member who verifies is one real person, once. And the rule that makes the rest work: twelve verified members reporting the same account closes it, for good, without waiting for anyone.

Twelve reports and you are gone
Twelve different verified members reporting one account closes it permanently, the moment the twelfth lands. Dismissed reports do not count, and a pile-on is itself a reason to lose your own account.

One person, one account
Verify once with a passport, driving licence or national ID. The document is never stored — a one-way fingerprint is — so the same person cannot come back under a new name after a removal.

Is Hashti like the old Yahoo chat rooms?
That is the idea it starts from: public rooms about a subject, open all day, where people walk in, talk and leave — and a corner of your own, with a profile you style, a wall and a guestbook. Then it adds what those rooms never had: voice and video, a private messenger with calls, a walkie-talkie, live translation, and a person who reads every report.
Is it free?
Yes. Joining, rooms, chats, calls and everything on this page are free. Hashti is for people 17 and over.
Do I have to verify my ID?
No. An account that has not verified can talk with friends, chat in rooms and listen on voice. Verifying with a passport, driving licence or national ID card — once — unlocks messaging people you do not know, hosting rooms, speaking on voice, channels and communities. The document itself is never stored; only a one-way fingerprint of it is, so one person gets one verified account.
What happens to people who break the rules?
Slurs and threats are stopped before they are sent. Anything else can be reported, and a person reviews every report within 24 hours. An account that twelve different verified members report is closed permanently, automatically. Blocking is instant and works both ways.
Which languages does live translation read?

Are my messages end-to-end encrypted?
Secret chats are: opt-in, one to one, between friends, text only, and nobody outside them — Hashti included — can read them. Ordinary chats, groups and rooms are encrypted in transit and at rest, and the server can read them, because the filter, reports and the 24-hour review depend on that. The privacy notice says exactly what is held.
